PROJECT description:
SI60 stands at the intersection of Los Angeles’s rich industrial heritage and its vibrant cultural renaissance. Located in the Arts District, the project bridges the city’s port and rail legacy with its evolving identity as a hub for art, retail, and live-work spaces. The existing structure’s scale accommodates diverse functions, anchored by a revitalized retail ground floor that activates pedestrian flow and strengthens connections within the growing creative community.
Transforming a former industrial site into a five-story multifamily development, SI60 introduces a rooftop assembly that offers extensive amenities alongside sweeping views of downtown Los Angeles and the Eastside hills. A distinctive wrap encases nearly 200 parking spaces at the property’s perimeter, enhancing the building’s public presence. Together with the rooftop, this architectural gesture reinforces the project’s modernist and minimalist ethos, creating a contemporary dialogue between past and future urban narratives.

“Drawing inspiration from the design principles of land and marine vessels, the project applies these fluid dynamics to architecture at a larger scale. Spaces are conceived as continuous and directional, responding to circulation much like the flow of liquids or gases—creating an environment that is both dynamic and intuitive.”
